It's gonna be good!Holly Magnusonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16456970548031746223noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4364617788458228849.post-17466808400588888102012-01-04T10:18:51.814-08:002012-01-04T10:18:51.814-08:00“A host always serves the best wine first,” he sai...“A host always serves the best wine first,” he said. “Then, when everyone has had a lot to drink, he brings out the less expensive wine. But you have kept the best until now!”

I liked this part. Sort of a foretaste of some future lessons. The last being first.

Also, on Jesus being angry - I never thought that it doesn't say he was angry. I think we make that assumption because most of the movies and pictures we've seen of the story show an angry Jesus. The interpretation that he wasn't angry, but was teaching a lesson is much more in keeping with the loving Jesus we know from most of the other stories about him.Sharonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06596653591301276543noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4364617788458228849.post-47798081336345546962012-01-04T09:39:25.513-08:002012-01-04T09:39:25.513-08:00Roseanna, when I was reading this last night in ES...Roseanna, when I was reading this last night in ESV, Jesus was not angry and yelling...just getting them out.Annette W.https://www.blogger.com/profile/02498639468291720406noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4364617788458228849.post-21283342353792872572012-01-04T08:15:42.379-08:002012-01-04T08:15:42.379-08:00Roseanna, you're right! Found this a bit cute in a mother/child sort of way, it seems he didn't want to disobey His Mother. And when thinking of the commandments ..He wouldn't have.Karenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18140751841343713595noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4364617788458228849.post-84154440900283518412012-01-04T05:02:33.236-08:002012-01-04T05:02:33.236-08:00I've always loved that mother-son interaction ...I've always loved that mother-son interaction too--so shows the human side of the relationship. =)

In recent years I've been really interested in the recordings of Jesus driving the money-changers out of the temple. All my life I'd heard this as an example of righteous anger--until my husband said, "How do we know he was angry? I see the actions, I can understand the thought behind it--but it strikes me as deliberate, not an act of passionate anger."

I thought he had a point. Jesus is filled with zeal, yes--but is this Him losing his head, or executing a plan? We tend to look at the passage as a license to get mad, so long as it's for a good cause. Makes me wonder if it's not, rather, a license to rock the boat, so long as it's for a godly reason, and NOT an excuse to lose our tempers.

Thoughts?Roseanna Whitehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02245767775900250399noreply@blogger.com
