Two great stories in this chapter, the feeding of the 5,000 and Jesus walking on the water. I love Peter, he speaks without thinking and jumps in without looking. Actually the jumping in without looking was the good thing, as long as he kept his eyes on Jesus he was good to go. But Peter, like us, started looking at the circumstances and down he went. Thankfully Jesus didn't just walk on by and leave Peter to drown, but He rescued him, just like He rescues us when we call for help. Thank God for that!
Happy Valentine's Day and remember that there is a God who loves you!
I'm taken by Jesus' mercy. He needed time to mourn and pray about his friend John, who was beheaded. But, the people came and he began to heal people anyway. I can only imagine the strength of character this must have taken.
ReplyDeleteI also love the image of Peter walking out to Jesus on the water and the lesson of faith. It is a good reminder to trust in Him. If I had more trust, I could do anything!
Matthew 14
ReplyDelete27 Immediately, Jesus said, “Calm down! It’s me. Don’t be afraid!”
28 Peter answered, “Lord, if it is you...
Jesus already said, "It's me."
Do we recognize Him because we have spent time with Him?
