Nov. 4, Day 307 - Psalm 41

Click here to go to Psalm 41

This is such a great Psalm when you are facing adversity. Several years ago it was one of the Psalms I prayed frequently when I was facing adversity from a couple of families in my church.

Through it all God was faithful and still is:
12 You have preserved my life because I am innocent;
you have brought me into your presence forever.

The natural response...

13 Praise the Lord, the God of Israel,
who lives from everlasting to everlasting.
Amen and amen!

So thankful for God's faithfulness.

  1. Psalm 41
1-2 Blessed is the one who has concern for helpless people. The Lord will rescue him in times of trouble. The Lord will protect him and keep him alive. He will be blessed in the land. Do not place him at the mercy of his enemies.
3-4 The Lord will support him on his sickbed. You will restore this person to health when he is ill. I said, “O Lord, have pity on me! Heal my soul because I have sinned against you.”

12-13 You defend my integrity, and you set me in your presence forever. Thank the Lord God of Israel through all eternity! Amen and amen!

  2. 6 They visit me as if they were my friends,
but all the while they gather gossip,
and when they leave, they spread it everywhere.
7 All who hate me whisper about me,
    imagining the worst.
8 “He has some fatal disease,” they say.
“He will never get out of that bed!”
9 Even my best friend, the one I trusted completely,
the one who shared my food, has turned against me.

This is a great reminder about what gossip can do to a person. Sometimes, it is so difficult to be upbeat and positive when someone is really sick. But, true friendship and genuine prayer is what people need more than ever at a time like this. We cannot abandon those that are sick or struggling just because it brings us down a bit to see them in such a state.
