This is a big chapter full of so much. A couple of things that jumped out at me come from this passage:
Verse 14 - When the people saw the sign that he had done they said, "This is indeed the Prophet who is to come into the world!"
From the ESV Study Bible:
The people here see Jesus as fulfilling the prediction of a prophet like Moses who was promised in Deut. 18:15, 18.
and verse 51 - I am the living bread that came down from heaven..
From the ESV Study Bible:
The "bread" Jesus gives is his flesh (a reference to Jesus' death on the cross). Jesus' statement intermingles physical and spiritual truth. Jesus is not talking about literal "bread," but he is the true "living bread" in the sense that those who believe in him have their spiritual hunger satisfied.
There's so much here, I look forward to to seeing what you guys have to say.
John 6
ReplyDelete15 Jesus realized that the people intended to take him by force and make him king. So he returned to the mountain by himself.
He indeed is King of kings and Lord of lords, but not like they thought!
20 Jesus told them, “It’s me. Don’t be afraid!”
So many times we need to hear this in our lives! "It's Me. Don't be afraid!" He is with us!
21 So they were willing to help Jesus into the boat. Immediately, the boat reached the shore where they were going.
~ willing to help ~ immediately ... where they were going. If I would not try to "help" so much, I would get there sooner where He wants to take me!
35-40
37 Everyone whom the Father gives me will come to me. I will never turn away anyone who comes to me.
40 My Father wants all those who see the Son and believe in him to have eternal life. He wants me to bring them back to life on the last day.
62 What if you see the Son of Man go where he was before? 63 Life is spiritual. Your physical existence doesn’t contribute to that life. The words that I have spoken to you are spiritual. They are life.
66 Jesus’ speech made many of his disciples go back to the lives they had led before they followed Jesus.
67 So Jesus asked the twelve apostles, “Do you want to leave me too?” 68 Simon Peter answered Jesus, “Lord, to what person could we go? Your words give eternal life.
I chose you.

I Need You More ~ Kim Walker
I never want to go back to my old life.
"22 The next day the crowd that had stayed on the opposite shore of the lake realized that only one boat had been there, and that Jesus had not entered it with his disciples, but that they had gone away alone. 23 Then some boats from Tiberias landed near the place where the people had eaten the bread after the Lord had given thanks. 24 Once the crowd realized that neither Jesus nor his disciples were there, they got into the boats and went to Capernaum in search of Jesus."
ReplyDeleteThis has always been a puzzling passage to me. I really wish I had more explanation of what exactly was going on.
Love this passage! Jesus is stating that He is the I AM! He is all I need!
