I love the title that at least the NLT gives this Psalm.
A prayer of one overwhelmed with trouble, pouring out problems before the Lord.
I think there are times when we are all overwhelmed with trouble and when we are we need to pour out our problems before the Lord.
The psalmist bemoans his situation for a few verses then starts declaring the majesty of God. Then it almost seems like he starts bemoaning again but finishes strong with:
They will perish, but you remain forever;
they will wear out like old clothing.
You will change them like a garment
and discard them.
27 But you are always the same;
you will live forever.
28 The children of your people
will live in security.
Their children’s children
will thrive in your presence.”
they will wear out like old clothing.
You will change them like a garment
and discard them.
27 But you are always the same;
you will live forever.
28 The children of your people
will live in security.
Their children’s children
will thrive in your presence.”
(26 - 28)
God is good and He is faithful!
As I get older, I read these Psalms and see so much more rich imagery than I remembered. The prose and writing is really amazing.
ReplyDeletePsalm 102
ReplyDelete12 But you, O Lord, remain forever. You are remembered throughout every generation.
17-20 He will turn his attention to the prayers of those who have been abandoned. He will not despise their prayers. This will be written down for a future generation so that a people yet to be created may praise the Lord: “The Lord looked down from his holy place high above. From heaven he looked at the earth. He heard the groans of the prisoners and set free those who were condemned to death.
28 The children of your servants will go on living here. Their descendants will be secure in your presence."
