Day 227, August 15 - Matthew 26

26 As they were eating, Jesus took some bread. He offered a blessing over the bread, and then He broke it and gave it to His disciples.

Jesus: Take this and eat; it is My body.

27 And then He took the cup of wine, He made a blessing over it, and He passed it around the table.

Jesus: Take this and drink, all of you: 28 this is My blood of the new covenant, which is poured out for many for the forgiveness of sins. 29 But I tell you: I will not drink of the fruit of the vine again until I am with you once more, drinking in the kingdom of My Father.

He's waiting for us!

  1. Matthew 26
6 Jesus was in Bethany in the home of Simon, a man who had suffered from a skin disease.

7-13 While Jesus was sitting there, a woman went to him with a bottle of very expensive perfume and poured it on his head. The disciples were irritated when they saw this. They asked, “Why did she waste it like this? It could have been sold for a high price, and the money could have been given to the poor.”
Since Jesus knew what was going on, he said to them, “Why are you bothering this woman? She has done a beautiful thing for me. You will always have the poor with you, but you will not always have me with you. She poured this perfume on my body before it is placed in a tomb. I can guarantee this truth: Wherever this Good News is spoken in the world, what she has done will also be told in memory of her.”

Years ago, my husband was part of a building team going to another country to serve missionaries our church sponsored. The question was raised, why wasn't the money just sent in place of the cost of airline tickets for the team? So clear the Lord showed me, "You ARE the perfume." I have it written above these Scriptures, dated 7-20-99. When we gathered to pray before they left, it was asked if anyone had a word for the men going. I was able to read these Scriptures to them with what the Lord had shown me. Our God is so great ~ a very present help in time of trouble ~ and any time. His Word is Truth.
