11 Again the same applies to women in key positions; they should also be dignified, not backstabbing gossips but self-controlled and faithful to the core.

This chapter is full of instructions in regards to how deacons and leaders within the church should behave.

  1. This is a good reminder that we shouldn't just stick people into church positions because there is no one else that volunteered. That is tempting, but it is something we all need to remember. Plus, it gives those that ARE in those positions something to aspire to. Of course, no one is perfect, but they are good guidelines.

I do have a little bit of an issue judging people by their spouses. There are a lot of people that are active in church that have spouses that are not. I don't want to be evaluated by my husband, but by my own actions.

  2. 1 Timothy 3
15b-16 God’s family is the church of the living God, the pillar and foundation of the truth.
The mystery that gives us our reverence for God is acknowledged to be great:
He appeared in his human nature,
    was approved by the Spirit,
    was seen by angels,
    was announced throughout the nations,
    was believed in the world,
and was taken to heaven in glory.
