Day 333, November 29 - Revelation 1

17b The One: This is not the time for fear; I am the First and the Last, 18 and I am the living One. I entered the realm of the dead; but see, I am alive now and for all the ages—even ages to come. [Amen.] I possess the keys to open the prison of death and hades.
The Voice

I'll be honest, the book of The Revelation is a tough one for me to wrap my brain around, but I'm going to read it over the next few weeks left in the year. I'm hoping The Voice will make it a little more understandable. I'll also utilize some commentaries and study Bible notes.

  1. To me, Revelation is an allegory for what was going on at the time it was written with a lot of GrecoRoman mythology thrown in.

  2. Revelation 1
The Revelation of Jesus Christ to the Seven Churches
1-3 This is the revelation of Jesus Christ. God gave it to him to show his servants the things that must happen soon. He sent this revelation through his angel to his servant John. John testified about what he saw: God’s word and the testimony about Jesus Christ. Blessed is the one who reads, as well as those who hear the words of this prophecy and pay attention to what is written in it because the time is near.

5b Glory and power forever and ever belong to the one who loves us and has freed us from our sins by his blood
