Day 32, February 1 - Psalm 12, 13

Click here for today's reading

Psalm 12
Theme: The proud and lying words of people versus the true and pure words of God. A call for protection against those who try to  manipulate us.

Author: David

This is still a problem today!

1 Help, Lord, for no one is faithful anymore;
those who are loyal have vanished from the human race.

But even though this is still a problem today we can rest in the truth that:

6 And the words of the Lord are flawless, like silver purified in a crucible, like gold[c] refined seven times. 7 You, Lord, will keep the needy safe and will protect us forever from the wicked,

Psalm 13
Theme: Praying for relief from despair. We must continue to trust God even when he doesn't answer us immediately.

Author: David

I love the fact that this Psalm David utters his frustration and hurts. And even though he is questioning God David ends with:

5 But I trust in your unfailing love;
       my heart rejoices in your salvation.
6 I will sing the Lord’s praise,
       for he has been good to me.

A great reminder that it's okay to be frustrated and question God, but never forget that we can trust his unfailing love!
