December 2, Day 335 - Revelation 12

Click here to go to Revelation 12

This sounds like something from a bad syfy channel movie! (Sorry, my husband is watching some weird movie on SyFy right now.

The imagery in this chapter is intense to say the least.

Then there was war in heaven. Michael and his angels fought against the dragon and his angels. And the dragon lost the battle, and he and his angels were forced out of heaven. This great dragon—the ancient serpent called the devil, or Satan, the one deceiving the whole world—was thrown down to the earth with all his angels.

Reminds me of Frank Peritti's "Darkness" series and the passage from Ephesian that reminds us that we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against evil rulers and authorities of the unseen world (6:12 NLT)

  1. Yes. I can see it as a movie or a cartoon.

"17 And the dragon was angry at the woman and declared war against the rest of her children—all who keep God’s commandments and maintain their testimony for Jesus."

Satan is and will always be our enemy.

  2. Revelation 12
7-9 Then there was war in heaven. Michael and his angels fought against the dragon and his angels. And the dragon lost the battle, and he and his angels were forced out of heaven. This great dragon—the ancient serpent called the devil, or Satan, the one deceiving the whole world—was thrown down to the earth with all his angels.

    Isaiah 14:12-14
12 “How you are fallen from heaven,
O shining star, son of the morning!
You have been thrown down to the earth,
you who destroyed the nations of the world.
13 For you said to yourself,
‘I will ascend to heaven and set my throne above God’s stars.
I will preside on the mountain of the gods
    far away in the north.
14 I will climb to the highest heavens
and be like the Most High.’

    Revelation 12
10 Then I heard a loud voice shouting across the heavens,

    “It has come at last—
    salvation and power
and the Kingdom of our God,
and the authority of his Christ.
For the accuser of our brothers and sisters
has been thrown down to earth—
    the one who accuses them
before our God day and night.
11 And they have defeated him by the blood of the Lamb
    and by their testimony.
And they did not love their lives so much
that they were afraid to die.
    12 Therefore, rejoice, O heavens!
And you who live in the heavens, rejoice!
But terror will come on the earth and the sea,
for the devil has come down to you in great anger,
knowing that he has little time.”
