Day 329, November 25 - 1 John 4

7 My loved ones, let us devote ourselves to loving one another. Love comes straight from God, and everyone who loves is born of God and truly knows God. 8 Anyone who does not love does not know God, because God is love.

As we go into Thanksgiving I think it's important to think about and love those around us.

  1. 13 By this we know that we abide in him and he in us, because he has given us of his Spirit.

It is also a lot easier to love those around us if we remember that we abide in him and he in us. I managed to get myself worked up into a frenzy this morning about something that happened several years ago. Fortunately, no one else had to listen to it because it was all in my remembering while I was in the shower. But, I certainly wasn't allowing the Holy Spirit to abide within me. I was shutting the Holy Spirit and reveling in my indignation. Usually, I don't read this blog until later in the day, but I was led to read it this morning and I'm pretty sure I know why. :-)

  2. 1 John 4
2 This is how you can recognize God’s Spirit: Every person who declares that Jesus Christ has come as a human has the Spirit that is from God.

9-10 God has shown us his love by sending his only Son into the world so that we could have life through him. This is love: not that we have loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son to be the payment for our sins.
