Yesterday one of the comments that was made about it seems like at times Paul is more writing in a journal and trying to figure it out. That caused me to stop and think and my conclusion is ya, that's true. After all, Paul was a man, he did have a tremendous encounter with God, but he wasn't Jesus.
Then I read today's passage and what are Paul's first words:
I hope you will put up with a little more of my foolishness. Please bear with me.(1)
I believe with my whole heart that Paul was inspired by the Holy Spirit to write what he did and we have much to learn from him, but ya sometimes he seems to be "thinking out loud." Oh to think out load the way Paul did.
Paul went through a lot because of his witness for Jesus, he paid the price and remained faithful through it all. Oh to have that kind of faith.
Blessings!
"4 You happily put up with whatever anyone tells you, even if they preach a different Jesus than the one we preach, or a different kind of Spirit than the one you received, or a different kind of gospel than the one you believed."
ReplyDeleteI've come to realize that if a preacher is saying it and it feels wrong, it is time for me to pray and listen to the Holy Spirit for the truth.
I was so struck by Paul's list of bad things that had befallen him! Makes what I might suffer for the faith seem pretty trifling in comparison.
ReplyDeleteAnd I'm just getting back from a road trip to Texas (from MD) so am happy to be jumping back in. =)
Welcome back, Roseanna.
ReplyDelete2 Corinthians 11
33 So I was let down in a basket through an opening in the wall and escaped from him.
David and Saul; Rahab, and the spies let down over the wall.
Escapades. I marvel at the times we have been rescued knowingly and unknowingly. Times we think we are detoured or late?? God is right on time.
