This is a very special Psalm to me. It was the foundation scripture for my Philosophy of Ministry paper I wrote before I graduated from seminary.
One the cool things about this Psalm is it tells us what to do:
- Shout with Joy
- Worship with Gladness
- Come before Him
- Singing with Joy
- Acknowledge the Lord is God
He made us, and we are his. We are his people, the sheep of his pasture.
Then we get more instructions:
- Enter His gates with thanksgiving
- Enter His courts with praise
- Give thanks
- Praise His name
For the Lord is good. His unfailing love continues forever and his faithfulness continues to each generation.
Have a blessed Sunday!
"Psalm 100:3 As in an alternate reading in the Masoretic Text; the other alternate and some ancient versions read and not we ourselves."
ReplyDeleteI learn something new everyday. Today, I learned what the Masoretic Text is after looking it up.
And, yes, this is a beautiful Psalm.
I smile when I read this Psalm. I so hear our little girl reciting this to us in her soft little voice as I read it. She is now 26, but I still remember...
ReplyDeletePsalm 100
A Psalm of praise.
Make a joyful noise unto the Lord, all ye lands. Serve the Lord with gladness: come before his presence with singing. Know ye that the Lord he is God: it is he that hath made us, and not we ourselves; we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture. Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise: be thankful unto him, and bless his name. For the Lord is good; his mercy is everlasting; and his truth endureth to all generations.
I even hear the little pauses for a breath ~*~ what joy these Words bring. Her class said it in unison together. ~*~ Bless His Name.
