Oct. 17, Day 291 - Hebrews 11

It was by faith....

This is such a great chapter to remind us of the people of faith that go before us. My favorite is Rahab. She wasn't a Jew yet she not only helped the Israelites but she was part of the linage of Jesus.

Reading about these great people of faith, who weren't perfect reminds me there's hope for me.

Faith is the confidence that what we hope for will actually happen; it gives us assurance about things we cannot see. (1)

  1. Such a wonderful chapter of reminders! To the Hebrew people to whom he was writing, that they have a heritage of faith of which Jesus was the ultimate fulfillment. And also a reminder to us as modern Christians not to be prideful in where we are now, because we did not build this Church on our own, but on a centuries-old foundation of great men and women of faith. Men and women who had faith of which the world was not worthy, even BEFORE Jesus came and made it all clear. Wowzers.

  2. Hebrews 11
    Faith Directed People’s Lives
1 Faith assures us of things we expect and convinces us of the existence of things we cannot see.

11b Abraham trusted that God would keep his promise.

13b They acknowledged that they were living as strangers with no permanent home on earth.

I love this. Wayfarers just passing through.

    23b ... they were not afraid ...
    27a ... without being afraid ...

34a They found strength when they were weak.

    The great faith chapter.

40 God planned to give us something very special so that we would gain eternal life with them.

    39-40 The Voice
These though commended by God for their great faith, did not receive what was promised. That promise has awaited us, who receive the better thing that God has provided in these last days, so that with us, our forebears might finally see the promise completed.

Praise be to our Father God.
