But when the fullness of time had come, God sent forth His Son, born of woman, born under the law, to redeem those who were under the law, so that we might receive adoption as sons. And because you are sons, God has sent the Spirit of His Son into our hearts, crying "Abba! Father!" So we are no longer a slave, but a son, and if a son, then an heir through God. (4-7)
We have 3 adopted kids in our church, all of which were adopted out of the foster care system. In at least 2 of the cases the biological mother gave up her parental rights. Something that could be very hurtful to the kids. But their adoptive parents always remind them that they chose them to be a part of their family. In the same way God chose us to be a part of His family. We are loved by our Father!
9 But now that you have come to know God, or rather to be known by God, how can you turn back again to the weak and worthless elementary principles of the world, whose slaves you want to be once more?
ReplyDeleteI wish I could remember always that I am FREE and I don't have to be a slave to this world. But, I forget that over and over. Thank you Jesus for forgiveness. :-)
Galatians 4
ReplyDelete3-5 It was the same way with us. When we were children, we were slaves to the principles of this world. But when the right time came, God sent his Son into the world. A woman gave birth to him, and he came under the control of God’s laws. God sent him to pay for the freedom of those who were controlled by these laws so that we would be adopted as his children.
7 So you are no longer slaves but God’s children. Since you are God’s children, God has also made you heirs.
