Day 298, October 25 - 1 Peter 5

6 So bow down under God’s strong hand; then when the time comes, God will lift you up. 7 Since God cares for you, let Him carry all your burdens and worries.

This is from The Voice, I love "Since God cares for you, let HIM carry all your burdens and worries. So true and so encouraging!

  1. 1So I exhort the elders among you, as a fellow elder and a witness of the sufferings of Christ, as well as a partaker in the glory that is going to be revealed: 2 shepherd the flock of God that is among you, exercising oversight,[a] not under compulsion, but willingly, as God would have you; not for shameful gain, but eagerly; 3 not domineering over those in your charge, but being examples to the flock.

I especially like verse 3. Those of us that become leaders in the church must remember not to be domineering, but examples. Lead by example. Actions speak louder than words. I have been thinking back on Christian leaders over the years that have influenced me in good ways and I rarely remember what these people said. I remember how they lived, how they loved Jesus Christ and how they treated people.

  2. 1 Peter 5
10 God, who shows you his kindness and who has called you through Christ Jesus to his eternal glory, will restore you, strengthen you, make you strong, and support you as you suffer for a little while. 11 Power belongs to him forever. Amen.

12b I’ve written to encourage you and to testify that this is God’s genuine good will. Remain firmly established in it!
