2 And many will follow their sensuality, and because of them the way of truth will be blasphemed. 3 And in their greed they will exploit you with false words. Their condemnation from long ago is not idle, and their destruction is not asleep.

  1. 19 They promise them freedom, but they themselves are slaves[g] of corruption. For whatever overcomes a person, to that he is enslaved.

I like this verse. It is so true that what overcomes us becomes our master. This is a good one for me this morning. I had a lousy night sleep last night, mainly because I was tossing and turning, worrying about things that I can't change and other things that are only remote possibilities. I was enslaved to worry.

  2. 2 Peter 2
    Warnings about False Teachers
1 False prophets were among God’s people ⌊in the past⌋, as false teachers will be among you. They will secretly bring in their own destructive teachings. They will deny the Lord, who has bought them, and they will bring themselves swift destruction.

9 Since the Lord did all this, he knows how to rescue godly people when they are tested. He also knows how to hold immoral people for punishment on the day of judgment.

    1 Corinthians 10:13
No temptation has overtaken you except what is common to mankind. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can endure it.
