August 21, Day 235 - Philippians 1

Click here to go to Philippians 1

Paul opens this letters with words of encouragement and a prayer for the believers in Philippi. Another amazing passage.

The thing that jumped out at me was verse 27:  Above all, you must live as citizens of heaven, conducting yourselves in a manner worthy of the Good News about Christ. Then, whether I come and see you again or only hear about you, I will know that you are standing together with one spirit and one purpose, fighting together for the faith, which is the Good News.

What does it mean to live as a citizen of heaven? I've always thought about heaven as a place where we will worship God all the time. hmmm... maybe a reminder that we should remember to worship God while we're on earth, day in and day out... not just on Sunday (or Saturday) at church.

Lots of good stuff coming in this book.

28 So don’t let your opponents intimidate you in any way. This is God’s way of showing them that they will be destroyed and that you will be saved.

    Ephesians 6
14 So then, take your stand! Fasten truth around your waist like a belt. Put on God's approval as your breastplate.

  2. "9 I pray that your love will overflow more and more, and that you will keep on growing in knowledge and understanding. 10 For I want you to understand what really matters, so that you may live pure and blameless lives until the day of Christ’s return. 11 May you always be filled with the fruit of your salvation—the righteous character produced in your life by Jesus Christ[b]—for this will bring much glory and praise to God."

Philippians has some of my favorite passages. Do we grow in knowledge and understanding? This has been a theme that has come up a lot in my life lately. I realized my relationship with Christ had stagnated in a lot of ways and I have been allowing Christ to lead me back to being "filled with the fruit of salvation". It is amazing how much I can grow in my faith even when I thought my faith had matured so much. The more I grow, the more I know there is so much more to learn and experience.
