Sept. 6, Day 250 - 1 Thess. 4

Click here to go to 1 Thess. 4

My APOLOGIES!!
I was so tired last night when I got home I completely forgot to post!

I've had a couple of friends recently who have lost loved ones... these verses give us such hope:
13 And now, dear brothers and sisters, we want you to know what will happen to the believers who have died[f] so you will not grieve like people who have no hope. 14 For since we believe that Jesus died and was raised to life again, we also believe that when Jesus returns, God will bring back with him the believers who have died.

  1. 1 Thessalonians 4
    1-12
3 It is God’s will that you keep away from sexual sin as a mark of your devotion to him.

This is neat about purity, I didn't remember reading in verses 4-5.

4-5 Each of you should know that finding a husband or wife for yourself is to be done in a holy and honorable way, not in the passionate, lustful way of people who don’t know God.

Also verse 6, between Christians ~ affirming seeking relationship not to be between believer and preChristian.

6a No one should take advantage of or exploit other believers that way.

15-18 We are telling you what the Lord taught. We who are still alive when the Lord comes will not go into his kingdom ahead of those who have already died. The Lord will come from heaven with a command, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trumpet call of God. First, the dead who believed in Christ will come back to life. Then, together with them, we who are still alive will be taken in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. In this way we will always be with the Lord. So then, comfort each other with these words!

    Revelation 22
20b Even so, come, Lord Jesus!

  2. I came and didn't see the post earlier, so I read the passage and now I'm reading it again. This part struck me:

"11 Make it your goal to live a quiet life, minding your own business and working with your hands, just as we instructed you before. 12 Then people who are not Christians will respect the way you live, and you will not need to depend on others."

It is a good reminder that we don't have to do something grandiose to be respected.
