Oct. 9, Day 283 - Hebrews 5

Click here to access Hebrews 5

I love this verse: Every high priest is a man chosen to represent other people in their dealings with God. He presents their gifts to God and offers sacrifices for their sins. (1)

When I look at it in context with this verse: In this way, God qualified him as a perfect High Priest, and he became the source of eternal salvation for all those who obey him. (9)

The high priest represented the people to God, yet they were still men with faults and failures, Jesus, however, was God in human flesh, perfect in every way and now He represents us to God our gifts and He was the ultimate sacrifice for our sins.

Blessings!

  1. I like this passage:
"12 You have been believers so long now that you ought to be teaching others. Instead, you need someone to teach you again the basic things about God’s word. You are like babies who need milk and cannot eat solid food. 13 For someone who lives on milk is still an infant and doesn’t know how to do what is right. 14 Solid food is for those who are mature, who through training have the skill to recognize the difference between right and wrong."

This is what happens when we don't continue to grow in our faith. We don't mature. I am finding this true in my life and in the past couple years, I have be seeking out more maturity and training. This is a very good passage for me.

  2. Hebrews 5
7-9 During his life on earth, Jesus prayed to God, who could save him from death. He prayed and pleaded with loud crying and tears, and he was heard because of his devotion to God. Although Jesus was the Son of God, he learned to be obedient through his sufferings. After he had finished his work, he became the source of eternal salvation for everyone who obeys him.
