Verse 19
But Mary treasured up all these things, pondering them in her heart.
When you look at Mary's life
- She has an angel visit her to tell her she's going to have a baby
- Her elderly aunt is pregnant for the first time
- When she visits that aunt she prophesies over her
- She has a baby in a manger
- Shepherds show up to celebrate the birth because angels told them to
- She takes her child to the temple where Simeon and Anna celebrate and prophesy about her child
- Not in the Luke account but Magi visit her with gifts for her child because a star lead them
- Her pre-teen son discusses scripture with the religious leaders
The things she had treasured up were absolutely amazing!
Was it enough to help her through watching her first born son being crucified? I know some of you have lost children and I can't even begin to imagine the pain you've been through.
Luke 2
ReplyDelete4b Joseph, a descendant of King David, went to Bethlehem because David had been born there.
6-7a While they were in Bethlehem, the time came for Mary to have her child. She gave birth to her firstborn son.
11 Today your Savior, Christ the Lord, was born in David’s city.
23b “Every firstborn boy is to be set apart as holy to the Lord.”
48b-51 His mother asked him, “Son, why have you done this to us? Your father and I have been worried sick looking for you!”
Jesus said to them, “Why were you looking for me? Didn’t you realize that I had to be in my Father’s house?”
But they didn’t understand what he meant. Then he returned with them to Nazareth and was obedient to them. His mother treasured all these things in her heart.
