Day 82, March 23 - Psalm 37

Click here for today's reading

So much good stuff in this chapter... some of my favorites:

3 Trust in the LORD, and do good; dwell in the land and befriend faithfulness.
4 Delight yourself in the LORD, and he will give you the desires of your heart.
5 Commit your way to the LORD; trust in him, and he will act.
23 The steps of a man are established by the LORD, when he delights in his way;
24 though he fall, he shall not be cast headlong, for the LORD upholds his hand.
28 For the LORD loves justice; he will not forsake his saints. They are preserved forever, but the children of the wicked shall be cut off.
30 The mouth of the righteous utters wisdom, and his tongue speaks justice.
31 The law of his God is in his heart; his steps do not slip.
39 The salvation of the righteous is from the LORD; he is their stronghold in the time of trouble.
40 The LORD helps them and delivers them; he delivers them from the wicked and saves them, because they take refuge in him.

  1. Psalm 37
    5-7a Entrust your ways to the Lord. Trust him, and he will act on your behalf. He will make your righteousness shine like a light, your just cause like the noonday sun. Surrender yourself to the Lord, and wait patiently for him.

    23-27 A person’s steps are directed by the Lord, and the Lord delights in his way. When he falls, he will not be thrown down head first because the Lord holds on to his hand. I have been young, and now I am old, but I have never seen a righteous person abandoned or his descendants begging for food. He is always generous and lends freely. His descendants are a blessing. Avoid evil, do good, and live forever.

    30-31 The mouth of the righteous person reflects on wisdom. His tongue speaks what is fair. The teachings of his God are in his heart. His feet do not slip.

    34a Wait with hope for the Lord, and follow his path, and he will honor you by giving you the land.

    39-40 The victory for righteous people comes from the Lord. He is their fortress in times of trouble. The Lord helps them and rescues them. He rescues them from wicked people. He saves them because they have taken refuge in him. A psalm by David; to be kept in mind.
