This is one of those Psalms that we should all read when we've blown it big time in our walk with the Lord. The Psalmist is obviously in distress over his sin and it's only in verse 18 where he says "I'm sorry"
It's interesting to me that in this chapter there's no joy experienced by the Psalmist only heartache over his sin.
Psalm 38
ReplyDelete8 I am numb and completely devastated. I roar because my heart’s in turmoil.
10-11 My heart is pounding. I have lost my strength. Even the light of my eyes has left me. My loved ones and my friends keep their distance and my relatives stand far away because of my sickness.
15 But I wait with hope for you, O Lord. You will answer, O Lord, my God.
18 I confess my guilt. My sin troubles me.
21-22 Do not abandon me, O Lord. O my God, do not be so distant from me. Come quickly to help me, O Lord, my savior. For the choir director; for Jeduthun; a psalm by David.
