14 So, my friends, while we wait for the day of the Lord, work hard to live in peace, without flaw or blemish; 15a and look at the patience of the Lord as your salvation.

18 Instead, grow in grace and in the true knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus, the Anointed, to whom be glory, now and until the coming of the new age. Amen.

  1. 8 But do not overlook this one fact, beloved, that with the Lord one day is as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day. 9 The Lord is not slow to fulfill his promise as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not wishing that any should perish, but that all should reach repentance.”

Sometimes, I get caught up in pondering how the people in the Old Testament could have lived so many years or why Jesus didn’t return before a generation passed away. This is a good reminder that humans have a whole different concept of time than God. For God is living in eternity. That is something we really can’t imagine.

8-10 But do not overlook this one fact, beloved, that with the Lord one day is as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day. The Lord is not slow to fulfill his promise as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not wishing that any should perish, but that all should reach repentance. But the day of the Lord will come like a thief, and then the heavens will pass away with a roar, and the heavenly bodies will be burned up and dissolved, and the earth and the works that are done on it will be exposed.
