Today's Reading - https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Luke%2011&version=VOICE
Luke's version of the Lord's Prayer:
Disciple: Teacher, would You teach us Your way of prayer? John taught his disciples his way of prayer, and we’re hoping You’ll do the same.
Jesus: 2 Here’s how to pray:
Father [in heaven], may Your name be revered.
May Your kingdom come.
[May Your will be accomplished on earth
as it is in heaven.]
3 Give us the food we need for tomorrow,
4 And forgive us for our wrongs,
for we forgive those who wrong us.
And lead us away from temptation.
[And save us from the evil one.][a]
I found it interesting that The Voice translated this line: Give us the food we need for tomorrow,
So I looked at the ESV which is a word for word translation of the Bible and found: Give us each day our daily bread,[b] The footnote however, reads: Or our bread for tomorrow
Not earth shattering or anything, just curious. I love this prayer, it reminds me that God is to be honored. God wants to work in our lives. He provides for our needs (not to be mistaken for our wants). He will forgive us as we've forgiven others. OUCH! Some days I'm not sure that's a good thing in my life. And we can ask Him to lead us away from temptation. Interesting it doesn't say we won't face them, but we can be led away from them.
