April 20, day 111 - Luke 22

http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Luke%2022&version=NLT Forgive me if the link doesn't work. I had to leave my laptop at work and my Mac isn't working right so here I am on my iPad. We are now looking at the story of Jesus' last hours for the final time. I noticed that Jesus twice spoke to the disciples about not falling into temptation and the importance of prayer. Likewise, for us as well, we need to pray, have that fellowship with our Lord. I also noticed about the angel coming to minister to Jesus, I'm not sure the other gospels mention it. Sorry this is short tonight. Blessings!

  1. The angel coming to strengthen Him in the garden stood out to me too, as well as the importance of praying not to fall into temptation. We all need to pray that--and it makes me wonder how often we're being ministered to without realizing it. Love the thought of that. =)

  2. 41 He walked away, about a stone’s throw, and knelt down and prayed, 42 “Father, if you are willing, please take this cup of suffering away from me. Yet I want your will to be done, not mine.”

Sometimes, the hardest thing for me to pray is "thy will be done". When I am suffering or a loved one is suffering and I pray for healing and comfort, I sometimes don't want to to say "thy will be done" because I really want my will to be done. This happened recently when my dad was almost dead. I was participating in a group prayer with my Bible study group and they were praying for my dad. When it came my time to pray aloud, I asked God for healing and for my dad to recover if that was His will. I surrendered the matter completely to God. As I did it, I felt a burden lifted from me. And, as it turned out, Dad's health started improving the next day and he is gaining strength and eating again.

  3. Luke 22:8-13. Jesus told them where to go, what to say, and what to do. Visual. They went where He said, said what He told them to say, and did what He sent them to do, to prepare the Passover. This is so awesome. Like telling them where to find the colt, what to say, and to bring them to Him. Matthew 21:1-11. Five days before the Passover, coming from Bethany to Jerusalem, Jesus sent two of His disciples ahead to bring Him a colt of a donkey. He sat upon it and entered the city, fulfilling the prophecy in Zechariah 9:9, “Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion! Shout, O daughter of Jerusalem! Behold, your King is coming to you; He is just and having salvation, lowly and riding on a donkey, a colt, the foal of a donkey."

    Luke 22
28-30 “You have stood by me in the troubles that have tested me. So as my Father has given me a kingdom, I’m giving it to you. You will eat and drink at my table in my kingdom. You will also sit on thrones and judge the twelve tribes of Israel.”

Wow! The disciples of the New Testament will judge the twelve tribes of Israel of the Old Testament.
