Much like a gold ring in the snout of a pig, so is a beautiful woman who lacks good judgement. (v22 The Voice)

WOW! That really drives home what the write of Proverbs said about a woman who lacks good judgement.

The chapter has so many jewels (pun intended) in it. I love verse 25: A giving person will receive much in return, and someone who gives water will also receive the water he needs. (The Voice -italicized represents words added by the translators not part of the original text)  I have a friend, Brian, who exemplifies this passage. He is a very giving person including his time. And looking at him and his family they don't have needs.  He has a good job but unlike the person in verse 26 he doesn't hoard what he has.

I also like verse 17: Kindness is its own reward, but cruelty is a self-inflicted wound.
This is so true! When I've been cruel to someone it ends up eating at me.

What other things jump out at you? So many good things!

"A gossip goes around telling secrets,
but those who are trustworthy can keep a confidence."

That's my favorite today. There is so much gossip all the time in this little town.

  2. Proverbs 11
1b ...accurate weights are pleasing to the Lord.

    Luke 6
38 Give, and you will receive. A large quantity, pressed together, shaken down, and running over will be put into your pocket. The standards you use for others will be applied to you.

    Proverbs 11
    The Value of Righteousness
Wisdom remains, integrity guides, saves from death, makes road smooth, rescued from trouble, rescued by knowledge. When righteous people prosper, a city is glad. With the blessing of decent people a city is raised up. A person who has understanding keeps quiet. ...whoever is trustworthy in spirit can keep a secret. A gracious woman wins respect, a merciful person helps himself, whoever spreads righteousness earns honest pay. Righteousness leads to life. The Lord is delighted with those whose ways are innocent. The descendants of righteous people will escape punishment. Desire ends only in good.
25b, 27 ...whoever satisfies others will himself be satisfied. Whoever eagerly seeks good searches for good will, but whoever looks for evil finds it.

    Mark 4
24 And He said unto them, Take heed what you hear: with what measure you measure, it shall be measured to you: and unto you that hear shall more be given.
