Day 49 - Matthew 18

Click here to access Matthew 18

I love the story of the Parable of the Lost Sheep. And how the Shepherd leaves the 99 and goes and searches for the one. Such a great reminder that our God is an individual God who loves each of us.

I work at a Christian University and about 10 years ago we hired in a new director who was the first boss I had that practiced and expected his employees to follow Matthew 18 in dealing with others. Not always easy but I do believe it is the way God wants us to handle conflict. (Much more Godly than backstabbing and gossip!)

Again, Matthew gives us lots of good things to think about in this passage. Is there a something that you would like to share?

  1. Children trust, play, and tell you when they are hungry. They also are truthful!
They put arms around those who are crying, or cry louder with you!
A little boy played peek-a-boo with me this morning after our ladies' first Resolution for Women Saturday morning study. He was so joyful to stand behind a put away round table when I was across the room and he singled me out. Biggest smile and he was happy with me just hiding behind my hands.
Joy in simple things. Smiles that light up your face. Comfort for others. The Lord is so good in displaying and describing attributes He wants us to have.
    Matthew 18
5 “And anyone who welcomes a little child like this on my behalf is welcoming me.
    WOW!

7b Temptations are inevitable, but what sorrow awaits the person who does the tempting.
10 “Beware that you don’t look down on any of these little ones. For I tell you that in heaven their angels are always in the presence of my heavenly Father.
    This Chapter is so full.
35 “That’s what my heavenly Father will do to you if you refuse to forgive your brothers and sisters from your heart.”
Leaving the 99 for 1 ~*~ He has done that for each one of us and rejoiced.

  2. I absolutely love this chapter. So much good advice on how to treat each other! Some of my favorite verses has always been:
3 Then he said, “I tell you the truth, unless you turn from your sins and become like little children, you will never get into the Kingdom of Heaven.

4 So anyone who becomes as humble as this little child is the greatest in the Kingdom of Heaven.
5 “And anyone who welcomes a little child like this on my behalft is welcoming me.

If we all had the innocence, trust and awe of life that the children had, this world would be a much more peaceful place. Whenever I'm feeling cynical, I remember these verses and pray for innocence and trust.
