Day 13, January 13 - Psalm 7

Please bring the evil actions of these wicked, wicked people to an end! But secure the righteous, For You, righteous God, examine our hearts and minds. (9 The Voice)

As I read through this verse especially, knowing that this was the author's prayer to God about his situation, I think about our world and how much evil there is in it today. And I'm reminded praying scriptures is a good thing. A very good thing.

I also love verse 10: God is my defender; He rescues those who have a pure heart.

  1. 10 My shield is with God, who saves the upright in heart.

Love that, too. Reminds me of the new Chris Tomlin song. "I know who goes before me, I know who stands behind. The God of angel armies is always by my side."

  2. 3 O LORD my God, if I have done this, if there is wrong in my hands, 4 if I have repaid my friend with evil or plundered my enemy without cause, 5 let the enemy pursue my soul and overtake it, and let him trample my life to the ground and lay my glory in the dust. Selah

I like that he also applies the principles to himself and not just his enemies.

  3. Psalm 7
8 The Lord judges the people of the world. Judge me, O Lord, according to my righteousness, according to my integrity.

    Psalm 139
23 Examine me, O God, and know my mind. Test me, and know my thoughts.
24 See whether I am on an evil path. Then lead me on the everlasting path.
