July 29, Day 211 - Proverbs 19

Click here to go to Proverbs 19

There are so many good verses in this chapter, it's hard for me to choose my favorite, but a couple that I really like:

Enthusiasm without knowledge is no good;
    haste makes mistakes.

11 Sensible people control their temper;
    they earn respect by overlooking wrongs.

21 You can make many plans,
    but the Lord’s purpose will prevail.

Again there are several others that jumped out at me, but I'll look forward to seeing which ones you guys pick.

  1. Proverbs 19
    11 A person with good sense is patient, and it is to his credit that he overlooks an offense.

    This includes "borrowing offenses." Getting upset over something that happens to someone else. They make up and solve their annoyance and you still harbor ill will.

    14 Home and wealth are inherited from fathers, but a sensible wife comes from the Lord.

    Only the Lord can show me "common sense" comes from Him!

    17 Whoever has pity on the poor lends to the Lord, and he will repay him for his good deed.

    A recent beautiful example of this is a friend who ordered fresh produce. She made an outing for the four of us, and we stopped to pick up her order in the afternoon. The wife had had unexpected medical expenses the week before. Our friend selected additional produce to what she had ordered, and as the rest of us were in the car, she gave them additional payment for their need. One of our friends told me later. She will be making extra homemade salsa to give as gifts. What a love she is. The Lord will certainly repay her kindness. It is who she is.

    20 Listen to advice and accept discipline so that you may be wise the rest of your life.

    Removes stubbornness and everyone wins!

    23 The fear of the Lord leads to life, and such a person will rest easy without suffering harm.

    Thank You, Lord, for Your wisdom that centers our lives.
