Day 23 - Psalm 8

This Psalm opens up with a familiar phrase, "O Lord, our Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth!" (ESV)

This Psalm paints a picture of ways that God reveals Himself and His glory. I've heard people feel closest to God and experience His majesty when they're in the mountains, or at the beach, or when they witness the birth of their child.  This past summer I visited Yosemite for the first time and remember entering Yosemite Valley and just being overwhelmed by the beauty and majesty of the view.

Where/when do you sense God's majesty?

  1. I live in the beautiful Appalachian mountains of Western Maryland, and I have to say that when we're out driving and crest a hill, look out over the vista of mountains and valleys, I'm always awed by His majesty.

But I really, really love walking along the beach, or sitting in the surf, and listening for His voice. We vacation every year in the Outer Banks, and something about the infinity of the water--so vast--and the infinity of the sand--so small--reminds me of God's amazing attention.

  2. For me, I feel God's majesty most when I am at the ocean. I am blessed to be only about 2 hours driving distance from the Northern California coastal area that is mostly state parkland. Often, especially in the winter, I can stand on the shore with hardly another person in sight and just breathe it all in.

  3. God's amazing sunsets! Brilliant colors from orange to cherry out our front door.
